Can't wait to see how much Rick charges and how he restores it.
I am afraid.

Must be sponsor supplemented because you couldn't afford this guy. At times the finished product isn't the same one that was brought in. Somewhere in my travels I met a production employee for that program and he was letting out secrets about that show and Pawn Stars.

I can't believe these shows are real. Whether or not these people are actually bringing in these items to have restored (or sell in Pawn Stars) is debatable. That and the friction that goes on between the cast. It surely is all scripted and acted out. The camera shots, cuts, angles all say it is a totally acted out TV show with a script. -Steve

I wonder which one will do the electronics. Without doubt it's going to be finished with a mirror shine.

I heard some things about these shows. It is more or less all scripted. I saw amateur vids of the shop on Pawn Stars, and only the friend, Chumley, was there. He looked serious, very busy, and on-the-ball too. Not the clown he portrays on the show. The family was probably on the beach in Maui! Also the place was packed full, with a long line outside, not like on the show.

A close friend just returned from Vegas and had stopped in at the Pawn Stars Shop. He said it was in a run down area and no one from the show was there. He asked where the stars were and was told they are seldom here. There on the road alot lining up interesting items that they will use to make the show interesting. They pay the expenses to have these item owners flown in for the show. They do use some walkins just for comedy. And you notice they always have a expert friend they can call or just around the corner. Chumly is a college grad and was just at the Mohegan Casino last Saturday nite with Corey for photo signings. Corey is arrogant and the father Rich laughs at everything said , degrades most items and always knows the history behind the item, a walking encyclopidia. The old man is the whole show with Chumly for laughs. JMO

Yeah, and $16,500.00 later... If I start dressing like crap, and regress to a similar level of education, can I make $450/hr. too? Like Dad said: "son, you best not believe everything you read in the newspaper..". The pricing on that show is a true joke.

The craziest for me was when his son restored that common-as-dirt '50's floor fan and the father said he would have sold it for like $2K or something! He had to be kidding! I can't believe in these times he can make a dime.

I do really hope it is a model 37 modernistic. I think mine is in the best "original" condition of any I have seen. I've yet to see any that don't have at least some scratches. I have been recording serial numbers of them as I run across them. So far, I have only seen about 10 or so of them.
This show could be interesting.
