My father-in-law gave me a Detrola radio/record player that belonged to his grandmother. I've looked, but haven't seen another one like it on the Internet. I believe it's a model 315 according to the plate on the inside. I replaced the speaker fabric a couple years ago, and it still works!

Is this in fact a model 315?

No reason it wouldn't be a model 315.

The 11-tube chassis is a match with the layout diagram, and it has the phonograph, as listed in RadioMuseum.

You should upload some photos to RMorg... Then the next person who comes looking will have a good model reference.

Thanks for the info! I will upload the pictures too, and hope it helps someone out.

I've always like that Detrola escutcheon for some reason.

I know you say it still works, but are you aware of all the good reasons for replacing the electrolytic capacitors? I won't preach to the choir, but if you have any doubts, let us know! :)

Not just the electrolytics, all of the paper caps in anything that old need to be replaced. They were bad 60 years ago, we were replacing them by the handful in sets more than about 10 years old in the shop back in those days.

Yes, sounds like it needs some work before I'd expect it to work safely and reliably. Not sure what I'm going to do with it at this point.

It's a beautiful cabinet, and it has sentimental value.
It is not hard to upgrade the capacitors. The phono unit needs lube and maybe new parts, all available.
Ask questions here, and it will be playing LP's in no time.
