Yes it is! This seller has, so far, put up some of the nicest consoles I've seen in a long time. Wish I had the space for one or two!

Think I spent as much time looking at the background in the pics than I did viewing the radio for sale.

He's bought several from me, and he made some real good money on some of them.

Wow, that one's a beauty. I think it looks even nicer that the 37-690 he sold a few months ago.

Already up to $2024. Willie's got a couple of snipe-free dummies in a bidding war.

I also looked at that Majestic link that Ed provided. Are there not 2 speakers missing from that one? Looks like there should be a speaker in each of the blank holes on either side of the big speaker? Or are those ports or something? Ports do not make sense though on an open back.

I bet that r****g will put in yet another bid if the multi-bid dummie (or anyone else) tops him. He'd have been better off just sniping at the end instead of encourage the nibble bidder(s) to drive up the price.

Looks like that Majestic radio has found a home in a Zenith cabinet. Maybe a Zenith model 610?

Here's one that he sold back in August, for $2,469.00. I don't think it's the same radio. There is some sort of switch (?) in a box to the left of the tuner chassis, of which the current one up for auction does not have:

The "End Game" will be interesting on this one to be sure. Its one super radio. Personally I think it was nicely refinished sometime in the past. Not dark enough to be an original finish. But it is one very nice radio. Contrary to some I still like this cabinet design much better than the 38 version.

The Philco 37-690 sold for $2,224.00. No "last second" bids, in fact the last one was on Oct. 15th.

Peter's "pred-iction" of the final price above was almost spot-on! 8)

Makes me wonder what a pristine 38-690 would go for. I'm pretty sure it would not bring $2k.

Well, I personally think that when you close the doors on a '37 model, it looks like a nice piece of furniture. When you close the rolltop of a '38, it still looks like a radio. The lines of a '37 are more classy (IMO). I just think that it fits in better with today's taste in furniture than a '38 does. The '38 looks like a robot in comparison. Still, I would not mind owning either one. You do need to allow space for the doors to swing around fully on a '37, though. Unless you don't care that they block whatever is on both sides of the radio.

Just noticed something. The top part of the Zenith 610 with the Majestic radio in it, looks similar to the top part of a Philco 14X (although is this the correct cabinet for a 14X, below...it looks like a 112X?):
