This is a nice radio fellas.. I've seen it in person. Very decent cabinet. the owner is a friend, and I assure you, he will accept less than the listed price. Has twin 45's and according to the owner, it works.

Thanks for correction. Too far away for me (and I'm divesting myself of most of my stuff for health reasons anyway). If I were in the market for one of these - and I was at one time but no more - I'd be making contacts with some of my New Jersey friends. :)

p.s. It's a model 87. Eight tubes instead of nine, no tetrodes, all triodes save for rectifier (26, 27, 45, 80). Still an outstanding example.

well, you Ron are indeed the expert ....but wasn't the 87 a clamshell speaker, lowboy set? This set has the 95 highboy cabinet, with the fleur de lit cutouts in the sides... I cannot vouch for the chassis.. I will ask him if it is 9 tubes... I can see 8 in the photo.

Thank you, you're very kind. No, the 87 was available in lowboy, highboy and highboy de luxe cabinets.

Here's some tipoffs that it is an 87 and not a 95:

* 8 toobs

* Fixed tube shield (attached to chassis) for the 27 detector tube

* No grid caps on the RF amplifier tubes

* Model number sticker (gold) pasted to one of the RF coil shields. The 95 has a separate shield which covers and encloses the RF tubes (edit - this shield on Model 95 sets is sometimes missing).
