I was thinking of getting some cheap fuse blocks to conceal fuses inside chassis, etc. but apparently that is a rich collector's luxury?

The auction is for a lot, which is 20 pieces. But still, that makes them $12+ each, which is about 10X too much.

I kept looking for the solid 24k gold plating that must command such a high price per fuse holder....didn't see it.....

You get 10 of them for $1.41 with free shipping. They are nice because they are in-line and fully covered to avoid shorts. They also do not require you to drill a hole somewhere in the chassis to mount a fuse bracket.

I like Radio Daze too, and have ordered the hard to find items from them before and will continue to do so, but when they mark up a 14 cent item to be 1.50, I don't see why you should feel obligated to pay the 10x markup. I could understand if it was something like a 50 to 100% markup, but a 1000%+ markup... some items it just doesn't make sense to buy from there.

??? I've never ordered from RadioDaze, but their holder is marked with Littelfuse's logo. If it is a Littelfuse holder, it sells at Mouser for $1.21 each. The Bussmann equivalent ones (BK/S-8001-1) are $2.25 each. I have one of the earlier Bussman 4405, and a bunch of the gray Littlefuse snap-apart ones that I actually use. I think they were $6.70 for a strip of 6 from Mouser. I like the Littlefuse ones better, as the clips aren't as tight, and it makes it easier to get a fuse in/out in a tight chassis.

How are these a 14-cent item? Cheapies from China, or am I missing something? Me, I'd rather have quality.

5x20 is 5mmx20mm AGC is 6.3mm x 32mm - someone looking to use an AGC fuse would be greatly disappointed....

Me, I like the chassis mount ones - easy to find a spot to mount, and no splicing needed.

You are right, they should not have used "AGC" in their image description as far as I can tell. I have never used that to determine what fuses/holders to buy, I simply used their measurements of 5x20mm to buy 5x20mm fuses to go with 5x20mm holders. They are all so cheap you can buy a box full of them and never run out.

I can understand if you have AGC fuses and wish to use what you already have, but when you compare the cost of 14 cents per fuse holder + 3 cents per fuse for a grand total of 17 cents all-in per application. It may not make much sense to attempt to use your existing stock of AGC fuses if it will cost you greater than 17 cents per AGC sized fuse holder.

I'm just trying to save you guys money here. If you wish to spend more for a fuse holder that works more to your liking, by all means do it. Personally, if I can have a bucket of these things sitting in my basement for only a few bucks, I choose to do that so I know I will never be without one when I need one and with very little financial investment.

Yes, these are straight from China. If you have a radio you expect to swap out fuses on on a regular bases, then you probably wouldn't want one of these. I have never had such an experience - if I had, I would find out why that radio is blowing so many fuses or figure out if maybe I need a bigger fuse for that radio's power requirements.

The fuse you install in your radio is for that point when something terrible goes wrong, like a cap shorting out or a solder point coming loose and shorting against something else. This should't be happening frequently where you need a quality holder, right? As long as these cheap holders can allow me to replace a fuse a few times, that's more than I should ever need in my lifetime for that radio.

If they cure me of impending death where I can live forever, then no matter if I get quality or cheap, the plastic always ages and becomes brittle, so even if I could live forever, I wouldn't be investing my hard earned money into expensive fuse holders that become brittle just like their cheap counterparts.

So far I've only had to replace one fuse on a radio since I started installing fuses on them, and it turned out I had too small a fuse installed.
