Newbie. Built a Crystal radio with 20 ft longwire antenna and ground wire still receiving many stations at once. Grandson school project. Thank u for advice

Depends on the design. It would seem that the tuned circuit is being over coupled. Does you coil have one winding or two?? General xtal sets are fairly broad. If you have strong station near by it maybe difficult to other weaker stations.

Post a picture of the crystal set as well as a sketch of the schematic.

A single air core coil with a slider tuner will generally have rather poor performance. Using too long an antenna and close proximity to stations could contribute too.
