Hi guys,
I recently bought a vintage stereo equipment lot at an auction. This was in the lot and I have not been able to find out much about it online.. I hope you can help me identify and value it. I tried to upload a picture but it is too big. I will try to explain it the best I can..

On the left there is a turntable then to its right is an AM/FM stereo with a vertical tuner. It says Stereophonic Solid State above it. Then below both of those in the unit is an 8 track player. I hope this helps.

Look in the back or bottom for a tag (normally glued in place). It may have information on model/Company. It looks like one of the Electrophonic models.

Doesn't it even SAY Electrophonic? These were cost leader department/furniture store units. I'm not a trader but I'd say the nostalgia value is higher than the musical value.

If you like it, keep it. Just don't turn it up all the way, they smoke easily. If you don't like it, sell it for what you can get. You never know what some people might be nostalgic over.

Yep, sure looks like a Morse-E unit to me.
Nothing special.

my aunt had a similar unit (but with slider controls instead of knobs) that was by Candle.

The thing roared all weekend, almost every weekend of my childhood for years! Tough units.

Replace all the electrolytic capacitors, clean the controls + switches, clean and lube the record player and also clean & lube the 8 track and also replace the belt if it is loose or has turned to goo.

Some of the cheaper stereos just play faithfully for years upon years without any problems.

An example.

My dad had a Bradford AM/FM stereo/8 track he used in his shop for at least 40 years and about the last 15 years of its life were spent with various speakers added in parallel to the original speakers. When I retired it from service nearly 10 years ago the darned thing still worked nearly perfectly. Most of the stereos we would consider to be of good quality would have burnt up the output stage driving such a low impedance for so long.
