 Post subject: Lafayette Receiver dial light bulbs--FIXED

What would be a good substitute for this bulb? The originals are "8V .25A S" (Bayonet base)

Most of the smaller bayonet 6V lamps were rated @ 6-8V.

A 12V would by fine if indeed you have 8V across the lamp.

I indeed measured 8V AC at the lamp socket. (no bulb in it)

Couldn't come up with a bulb, so I improvised. Used a #46 bulb and converted it from a screw-in base to a bayonet base by soldering pieces of wire (donated from the ends of a resistor) in to create the "bayonet". Added a 5ohm resistor to drop the 8V filament voltage down to around 6V. Works great.
