This immaculate vintage receiver came in with complaint of intermittent sound. Ruled out the usual suspects, dirty controls, etc. Noticed both am and fm were dead intermittently, traced that to a cracked solder connections on B+ supply to the tuner. About to button it up, started clicking the speaker relay causing intermittent sound, traced that to transistor on the protection circuit. Again thought it was fixed, but no! When it's cold, intermittent sound still! Turned out to be a heat sensitive 34 volt regulator transistor in the power supply circuit. Geez, Louis! Gonna let this thing hang around a while before I let it go!
