Also been trying for many years to picking up a Zenith Reel to Reel, are they out there and if so any help finding any.
Thanks Tony

The easiest to find are the Z series 31Z 51Z 81Z etc which as you probably found out are most easily found in 70's Zenith consoles as a special option for whoever didn't want 8-track.

Cassettes for consoles in the early 70s hadn't really caught on yet - or if they did it was just a stereo head and stereo circuitry inside a normal Carry Corder that if you took it out of the console and put the bottom on it could very easily be mistaken for something in a guy's briefcase to record lectures - except it was stereo.

Midline/average to slightly better dep on year and model.

Most of those Z-series decks were custom done by usually National/Panasonic but occasionally Hitachi would make a run - and - for what they are - those rebranded Hitachis are probably going to be the best you'll find.

Mostly everything else was farmed out to e.g. Revere/Wollensak or any of the other mfgers.
