Hi-

You guys were so helpful with my lightbulb question that I figured I might as well ask about the console itself. It’s in good working order seemingly, but what kinds of general maintenance should I be doing to the inside? I took a video of the interior, link is below (one of the tubes isn’t lit up, should i replace?). I had a record playing on stereo setting while the video was shot.

Thanks so much

Frank

Replace the tube. Actually this a MUST DO thing.

If the amp has not been recapped and fully serviced, this also must be done, no exceptions. DO NOT play/plug in anymore until this is done. All it takes is one small part going out that can, at very least, cause the amp stop working, at the very most, start a fire if certain parts go. If certain caps go, it can take out the audio output transformer or power transformer.

The changer will need to be cleaned and relubricated.

I would start here, antique radio club, new jersey.

http://www.njarc.org/

The side that's weak, is more than likely the burned out tube.

one other thing, when you have the amp rebuilt, ask the tech to add a fuse, about 2.5 amp.

Thanks for all of the help. Can you recommend any resources for guides on amp rebuilds and upgrades in case I wanted to attempt it myself?

There are many on this forum who could probably talk you through what needs done step by step. The first thing would be for you to obtain for your own use and post for any who might help, a schematic of your console. That way, based on symptoms, we can advise accordingly. (I assume, based on you comment of doing it yourself, you can read a schematic, have basic test equipment, and understand troubleshooting methods.)

From there we can advise where to take measurements, parts needing changed, etc.
