Hi All,
I do presentations at local libraries where I bring in a few tube radios and play OTR shows via an AM transmitter. The theme of my upcoming show is comedy, but to be honest I rarely listen to comedy OTR. I'd like some suggestions as to good shows and good episodes of said shows. I have a two-hour time slot so I can play 3 or 4 half-hour programs in the time allotted. Thanks!

Just off the top of my head, The Life of Riley, Burns and Allen, Amos 'n' Andy, and The Jack Benny Show.

Fibber McGee and Molly, Great Gildersleeve, Duffy's Tavern, Abbott and Costello, You Bet Your Life (with Groucho) and my personal favorite The Phil Harris and Alice Faye Show.

Jeff,

In my opinion, the shows that hold up the best in 2017 are the Jack Benny shows. The ensemble cast all were funny at Jack's expense (which is how he designed it) The best of the best were done in the mid to late 1940s.

Burns & Allen were great in movies, but somehow their radio shows seemed forced. As you know, not all OTR is entertaining for us now in our time.

Other than comedy, I love to play DRAGNET through my old Zenith console---those shows were fantastic and well played and written.
