I few months ago I decided I wanted to restore this transistor radio that my grandfather gave me in the early 60s

I recapped it and now it works! But the screw holding the tuning knob on was badly rusted

After a couple of months of Liquid Wrench applications and digging I was finally able to remove it

The screw is an odd size...I'm pretty sure it's a 3-56, flat head, phillips drive. The 2 screws that go into the holes in the copper on either side of the mounting hole are the same size, so I need 2 of those with round or pan heads. My local hardware store had some 3-48 and they did not work so I'm pretty sure it's a 3-56. I've found a couple of sources online (McMaster Carr, Fastenal) but by the time I pay shipping for a few screws I'm looking at over $20. Can anyone suggest a source that won't cost me so much? If I can't find them cheaper I will go ahead and order some, but I'm looking to save a few bucks.

Thanks!

Rich

Asian product using SAE fasteners? Unlikely. Probably a M2.5 or M3 thread. All my NOS GC/Calectro and Saxton Variable caps like that use an M2.5 thread.

I have these taken from a radio that I was going to sell. They are about 2.5mm diameter. The long one is 5.5mm long and the two smaller ones are about 3.75mm ,long. I have no way to check the threads. The two that hold the capacitor to the board are flat head also. Let me know if they might work. Sorry about the focus. Hard to get it to focus that close.

Hi Don - Those are a little shorter than what I measured for mine. I measured 8mm for the one in the tuning knob. The others aren't actually there on my radio but I want to install them. I measured a depth of 5mm for those. If you're willing to part with those shoot me a PM and we'll see what we can work out ;)

Thanks!
