There was a fellow at one of the SCARS meets a while back that was selling brand new reproductions of those can caps. Beautifully machined to look just like the originals. He had 2 different sizes if I recall correctly. I will have to look for his contact info when I get home.

Thanks!

I would love to see reproduction can capacitors!

I sort-of made my own out of existing capacitors. I picked up several at Mendelsons and tore them apart, restuffed them and relabeled them.
One was full of PCB oil and didn't realize it. I gave it to our hazmat person at work.

Thank you all!
I realized I haven't shared the 22-169 template.

Here it is with the logo.

The PDF document has two logos in the right spot to make two capacitors.

OK, I finally have reproduced the Mallory versions.

I also found an Aerovox version of the 22-169 plus a dual 8 mfd 22-168.
Those two aren't common at all.

These are time consuming to make… But I think the results are worth it :D

Here is a Zenith 22-167 Mallory unfinished.

I need to find a source of this thickness cardboard and make a rubber stamp with red ink.
Probably a rubber stamp is the best way to go. I just need to find a place which makes custom stamps.

Thanks Wilson!
I got the eyelets from Hobby Lobby along with the crimping tool. They are Sew-ology brand part # 109033
They are found in the sewing section.
https://www.hobbylobby.com/Fabric-Sewin ... t/p/109269

The terminals I picked up at Mendelsons Electronic Surplus in Dayton and Midwest Electronic Surplus in Fairborn.
I'm sure they are available online somewhere.

Its been slow going, but here is a "Work in Progress" pic. Just need to stuff the modern caps into them, glue them shut then dip into molten beeswax. In all I have 24 of them made.

Also a pic of the card stock they begin with printed with the PDF document I posted earlier. It has the printed text and logo positioned correctly on an 8 1/2 X 11 sheet of paper to make two capacitors…. actually card stock.
It will require a color printer to get the red print.

I would think if you used beeswax in restuffing a capacitor it would make the set BUZZ. LOL

I applaud your efforts.... Too many times I've found 30s vintage sets with apparently everything original except for these early dry electrolytics.
Right now I have a wonderful Radio Salvigliano Model 91 with a couple of dry electrolytics long since replaced (sloppily) with axial lead caps bound up in friction tape... Almost exactly the same form factor as your replicas except for the Ducati graphics. Still looking for a color picture of it.

Thank you Robert! If I ever see a Ducati cap like that I will take photos. Though I rarely see foreign components.

Also thank you Keith, Rich and leigh.

I'm currently stuffing them with small non-electrolytic caps which are made in Italy by Kemet bought from Digi-Key.
They get lost in the box, therefore I must pad them with some corrugated cardboard wrapped around them.

Hello Steve,
yes I also have bought those Kemet brand caps and I like them very easy to work with ,
I used some in my philco bakelite blocks
I found a couple of those box caps in my Zenith model 908 I was thinking of stuffing it with new caps maybe I will do what you did
Sincerely Richard
