Gents,

What size are the beads needed for the chains connecting the tuning dials on a Grebe MU1? I am refering to the size or diameter of the beads themselves. Or a source for the chains.

Keith, I'll take a stab at an answer.

I went to Ace Hardware and found they had 2 sizes of chain. I bought a piece of each and the little connector thingies and brought it all home. The size that fit my MU1 was the smaller size. The beads are about 3/32" diameter (but I'm not measuring with a micrometer).

Looking at this website, I'm guessing it's "#3 chain." http://www.ballchain.com/chain_spools.html

So you are saying you didn't measure with a micrometer, or mark it with chalk and did not cut it with a hacksaw!

I looked at pictures of the MU1 and thought that they were large beads.

Early versions of MU1 didn't have chains. See Leigh's site.

This is a later model that did use the chains. Thanks for the site direction though.
