Here in Central Texas, cars parked under trees are being coated daily with sticky droplets. Many of us thought it was sap, but news reports reveal it's actually aphid droppings. Sure enough, it washes off windshields easier than sap would.

It's particularly bad this year, so bad that feathers are sticking to my daughter's car (she's not washed it!). It's kind of tarred and feathered!

I'm just curious what other parts of the country are experiencing this unusual phenomenon.

Have the same problem in SoCal. It is like a fine mist had the city come out and spray the tree
since it really is their property, patch between sidewalk and street. No more droppings. Its just
enough to ruin a freshly washed car.Good thing is it washes off very easy. But what a mess in the
mean time.

That reminded me of once reading about some ants
treating aphids as "cattle"...
Ahh...here it is:
"European red fire ants have a sweet tooth and thrive on sugary
liquid waste called honeydew secreted by aphids, another
of the state's (Maine) pests, said Eleanor Groden, an entomologist.

"They will tend aphids like little cattle that they farm,"
Groden said.

Did you know that ladybugs will bite you? I don't think they mean to, they're not very smart and just bite anything they land on. It doesn't "hurt" but it will get your attention.

Asian Lady Bugs bite. Our little orange ones don't. Had the Asians up here in
abundance for a few years. Clusters of em trying to get inside in the fall. I was
not pleased.
