That looks like a console with about 3/4 of the height chopped out.

from the net : Quote: Hickok 800 Tube Tester
The Hickok 800 is essentially a model 6000 with panel mounted sockets rather than the "socket plate" or "socket island". The 800A is the same as the 800 but with the addition of sockets for compactrons and nuvistors. Features
Measures mutual transconductance which is the best type of tube quality test
Meter reads with "bad-good" scale or read transconductance directly.
Tests transistors and diodes in addition to tubes
Neon light shorts test is automatic. No switching is necessary
Sensitive gas test
#49 bulb acts as a fuse to protect bias potentiometer
Built-in roll chart for selector settings
Includes obsolete and foreign roll chart supplements, roll chart in book form, and instruction manual

Is that model a mutual conductance tester, Gary? If so, great find! Yes, it is a mutual conductance tester. Learning how to use the controls to utilize that feature. The manual is pretty basic. It does have a transistor tester and other features. I think I got a good deal, @ $115 the case is in perfect shape, no moldy smell.

Newer toaster ovens have hollow glass rod elements that might work , size ? ....

Sold 5 radios at the VRPS auction this weekend. It was the first time that I entered anything in the auction and was pleased with the results. I basically got back what I had in the radios but I did make room for new stuff to come in and got a little green to bring some new junk home. I did come back with one radio from the auction. It is an Emerson 587B. I have recapped it and did a lot of other things that needed to be done (clean switch, change power cord, etc.) but it has a short that I am having a devil of a time finding.

Imagine my surprise when I called to thank the person who "I think" left these at my house. Every reply was "It wasn't me". This is really bothering me.

You have a radio fairy, Dave. Maybe a radio fairy-ski, perhaps? Had a Lowe Opta just like that one, worked well and I love that Silvertone. Beautiful!

My find is a Minerva Tropic Master 117. There are no serial numbers on it and thoughts are it is a civilian radio. The audio tubes are pair of 25L6's. Needs some paint, caps and some tubes to start.

Saturday, I picked up this beauty! A 1941 Capehart 113K2FM in an absolutely beautiful Mahogany Chippendale cabinet! Though, this is one of the lower end 100 series, the cabinet has the imposing look of the larger 400 series! Even the radio dial is accessed from the front rather than under a lid on the top. Plus the unusual speaker arrangement makes this piece quite unique! I'm very happy I was able to land this amazing piece! The changer is fully intact save for the arm which makes the record flip-over. Though, it is a common part to break. It makes my 111M2FM seem pale in comparison -Steve

I always thought those cabinets were odd because of how shallow the extrusion is. I've never looked at one in person but it looks like the center section comes out less than an inch.
