A Jack Russel Terrier I think. Like a smooth Rat or Fox Terrier. (Smooth means
Not wire haired)

Lots of hits on Google... he may have been a mix of these breeds: Jack Russell Terrier, a Fox Terrier, or "part Bull Terrier". His was named Nipper because he would nip people :)

Thanks. Thinking of adopting a dog. I've known other Jack Russells. They are really good dogs, but right now they are like third on my list. It would be hard to find one with a white face like Nipper at a shelter anyway.

But he was adopted once and returned. A little skeptical about that.

Please don't let that stop you... shelter pets all need a little more time to adjust. Think of them as a prison inmate that's been in for life, and then paroled afrer 40 years... the outside is not an easy adjustment for them.

I so agree! I adopted a Lab/Spanial mix 18 months ago that was returned twice and after a years time of both of us adjusting, he is a great dog!

+1. I have a border collie that's my best friend. He's been with me for at least 10 years. After we got attached to each other I found out that he'd been returned 3 times. But we get along pretty well.

+1 Really, don't let that stop you..... Go back there and get Nipper as soon as you can. That pup looks JUST like him. That's awesome.

The dog above is smart, Most likely he outsmarted the owner and they they returned him,
These dogs require a strong personality to raise them properly,
I may take a chance with him myself of I were looking,
He looks ilk he watches what is going on and has a sharp look in his eyes,,,, Looks smart.
