I like the idea of a neighborhood of radio types... sort of like living in a herd of cats but it would be fun. In many ways you guys remind me of musicians.. and that is a compliment. (also some of you ARE musicians, I know that). One of the reasons I have run a band for so many years is to enjoy the company of musicians... a group of bright, outgoing people, driven to strive toward the elusive goal of perfection or at least excellence. Most of my radio oriented friends are the same sort of people.

I have quite a few neighbors that I like but would not mind of some of you guys were in the neighborhood!

Jard asked:"What means : I'll probably catch some flack for this post ?"
(He's from the Netherlands and doesn't know the meaning.)

So I was helping him to understand the meaning of the term, by posting the dictionary.com definition.
Isn't that what he wanted to know?

Isn't that what he wanted to know?
Yes,thank you very much Peter.
I was surprised and did not expect that a word like : ¨FLAK¨ ( actually without C) would sneak in the American English.
It feels to me the same as ¨Kindergarten¨ and ¨Rucksack ¨
It does n´t fit or feels ganz Unheimlich.

I noticed that a lot of ARF members are cat owners.
That would work fine if all cats are indoor cats.
But cats are very territorial and with outdoor cats the ARF neighbors would besides the radios
also have to discuss who pays the veterinarian this time.

I don't live near an ARF member but I have met a few at our monthly radio club meeting, The Mid Atlantic Antique Radio Club. I have always enjoyed meeting the other side of the keyboard. I don't know about next-door neighbors but a quick visit from time to time would certainly be enjoyable.

Thanks Jard:
According to the Merriam-Webster Dictionary:

It seems the word FLAK with "c" and without "c" have different meanings:
"Flack".. with "c" is the version that means criticism.

Full Definition of FLAK
1
: antiaircraft guns
2
: the bursting shells fired from flak
3
also flack : criticism, opposition

Another advantage to having a bunch of us living in the same tract house area would be, assuming we all had AM transmitters, turning on our radios and being able to twirl the dial and get music from several different broadcast frequencies!

From what I've read, that happened alot in the 1920's during the infancy of radio. The neighborhood guys that were into radio would oftentimes form clubs and have get-togethers. Given the rapidly advancing state of technology of that decade, I bet they had alot to talk about.
