This has been sitting in my shop for awhile now and I never really think much of it. Last night I was kind of bored and decided to bring it up on a variac to see what it would do. Barely twisting the knob on the variac, it lit up almost immediately telling me that its either a 6 or 12 volt bulb. It has a mogul sized base. Markings on it indicate it might be from around 1931. Anyway, I have no clue what this thing might've been used for as the filament in it appears to be very robust and thus probably puts out a lot of light.

No, this is a big lightbulb! https://www.replacementlightbulbs.com/b ... cl240v.gif

Too lazy to dig mine out of storage for a picture.

240v, 50 amps, 12Kw. If i wanted to run this bulb i would have to unplug my trailer first

With that voltage, physical size and filament thickness, I'll bet it's a farm bulb to light the milkhouse or barn from a Winchanger and battery setup or some similar rural use.

+1. It's not the old standard Mazda system (which I seem to recall was 24V...?), but quite likely a contemporary.

Series-string streetlight lamp. Usually rated at 6.6 Amps rather than Watts.

I have some of those here.
