That is truly sad news. I didn't really know him, but I did enjoy his presence on the forum, and find myself wishing I had got to know him better.

Sobering to be reminded again on the forum of how uncertain our time is. Condolences to all his friends and family.

Whoa.

I didn't know this is who you were referring to while doing a quick inspection of my girlfriend's Belmont Navigator chassis at the clubhouse this morning (BTW, thank you again). I re-joined CHRS again after an absence going back to the late 80s, and after volunteering last weekend, and probably having passed Scott a few times throughout the day (?), am disappointed to read he's yet another club member I won't be able to meet. I've read his postings here in the past and see he's left behind a wife and kids. Very sad. I also know he commuted to the clubhouse from his home in the Santa Cruz mountains which means a hellish drive over highway 17. No mean feat there for anyone familiar with that route. I have to do the same in order to see my girlfriend. And I once remember reading a posting of his where someone made a less-than-kind comment of where he lived, but instead of replying, he just ignored it which is the classy way to move on with an internet thread anyway. Ah well, my sympathies all around.

Chris

There was another CHRS member that passed late last month,our friend Larry Drees;

Larry was always a big help at KRE swap meets with his hand truck helping console buyers load their new treasures and generally helpful in many other ways.Him I knew and I will definitely miss him.

Yesterday his three children came to our museum to pay us a visit. Their father did not talk much about what he did with our organization. So they wanted to see what he did there and to meet all of us. I think it helped them to understand that he was very well liked and respected. I think it was helpful for us because after talking with them we saw that he had been a good father and a good husband to his wife. They are a very close knit family. Today I'm working on a few more basic five tube sets as I tend to do during the weekends and every time I run into a weird problem I tend to think of him because he was always so good at being able to pinpoint and solve even the most strange issues.

Condolences to the family. Prayers headed their way.
Never a good situation when folks are taken like this.

A gal got killed last summer in our town while riding
her bike to work.
People have too many "toys" in their cars, & don't pay
attention to driving.

In drivers ed [many moons ago] we were taught that
driving was a full time job.

My condolences to Scott's family. In my short time here on ARF, I feel like I have read entirely too many of these posts informing us of the loss of a member. While I haven't known any of them personally, I still feel a sense of loss.

Very sad news. I really will miss Scott at the CHRS Museum as well as seeing him at the DeAnza flea market, carting away some pile big of stuff. True gentleman. My condolences to his family.

Aie aie-aie-aie-aie. We were picking up a jukebox from a repairman whose shop is next door to the Weirdstuff Electronics Warehouse around the corner from Lockheed and Juniper Networking.

Didn't see it happen or anything but saw the aftermath esp since there's no other way out to the rest of the city bec Caribbean is one way with a concrete divider in the middle. So sad.

https://www.mercurynews.com/2018/02/02/ ... -collision

Must be four or five years ago now before we left the Bay Area he got ahold of a stereo cartridge and stylus and a few other hard-to-find accessories for a stereo Tefifon for me and a source for the 10CM and 5CM wide tape that goes into a Schaub Lorenz Music Center.

We didn't talk too much after that cuz he was still busy w his job and family - and I didn't go to the swapmeets a lot anymore either - but it's still tough to lose a fellow cross-wired dork like that so fast who knew as much about the odd strange and dumb formats as me.

At least he'll have my Dad, my Uncle Earl and my Uncle Stan to keep him company and swap Lockheed stories with.

So shocking.
Here today... gone tomorrow.
life can be so fleeting. omg.

It's the shock of how it forces us to come to terms with reality and esp face to face with our own mortality.
Sad... so sobering.

"No man is an island"

No man is an island entire of itself; every man
is a piece of the continent, a part of the main;
if a clod be washed away by the sea, Europe
is the less, as well as if a promontory were, as
well as any manner of thy friends or of thine
own were; any man's death diminishes me,
because I am involved in mankind.
And therefore never send to know for whom
the bell tolls; it tolls for thee.

John Donne

LOL! Man oh man... So one thing that could always be counted on was for Scott to walk off with whatever huge, heavy, ungainly pieces of random equipment. We have large "purge" sales at the museum to get rid of accumulated stuff, one in March, one in July- the radio day by the bay event. The entire back yard and the side of the building as well as inside are usually crammed full with many tons of whatever. He would as usual help us in the 2-3 weeks it took to get things ready for the sale and so of course he was aware of all the stuff we were putting out there. At the end of the day when we would get to basically giving whatever was left away he would always make a big pile of broken reel to reel machines, bulky test gear, whatever radio carcasses that looked kind of unusual and a few boat anchors. We would even suggest that maybe he didn't need to take the stuff even though we were happy to get rid of it. So on Saturday when his kids came by they informed us that none of that stuff was allowed in the house but the garage and the building in the back was absolutely crammed to the ceilings!

Like most collectors with families.

Hopefully it will all make it back to members here.
