I recently acquired a Zenith Advanced System 3 Space Command 19" color TV.

Model number SB1971P.

I did not get a remote with the TV.

How do you turn the TV on? I cannot find an on/off switch, knob or button anywhere!

Do I need a remote to turn the TV on?

If so can I use any/universal remote or must a find a remote that came with the TV?

Thanks for any help!

On the drop down lid, the one on the far right marked "power".

Thanks for your help!

Yes - it does say that but what does that correspond too?

If you think you see an on/off knob, button or switch - please circle it!

Here are some close-up images:

Ok, i was referring to the metal strip on the lid that is on the photo. it is not a button, it is a touch sensitive control, it is the same with the vol up/down, channel up/down, etc
if the set does not come on when you place your finger on the "power" pad, the set has other problems. by the looks of that drop down door, it appears that it is damaged & that could cause the set not to function

Hi Robert,

Thanks for your help! :D

I did not understand that "strip" was a "touch sensitive panel."

The TV works great!

Thanks again for your help!

These were great sets. I bought one new & it lasted years. EVERY one
has a broken door.
Almost any Zenith or universal remote will work on it. If you use the pads a
lot it may damage the cable & you will never find a new one.

Yes, those touch sensitive pads had a high failure rate if used often.

The Zenith universal remote controls were sold under the "Allegro" name.
I'm not sure if LGE markets them still or not, but a remote for this model won't be hard to find.

The 1980s Zenith sets were at least reasonable quality. Once the 1990s came along, it was a steep downhill trip for Zenith
