Send 'em to me if you like. I'll buy them from you. Seller doesn't ship to Oz.

My saga continues.....
The Chinese seller offered me a $5 refund. I responded saying that: it isn't going to do much good on a unit that isn't US compatible, and that I rather have a functional unit sent as a replacement. He said that he would do that, only if I gave him a 5 star review BEFORE he sent out the replacement. That he was a recent graduate and that this was his first job, and his boss would be very angry. I told him that I'd be glad to leave a 5 star review AFTER I received a functional unit, besides....I've got PayPal and eBay on my side if this doesn't work out. I'll see where this goes........

Received mine yesterday and it works fine for what it is designed for. "Channel insertion" As far as using it for any wireless distance, no it won't do it. I like most, read the specs as a 90 dB output. it is a 90 dBuV not dBmV. It will come in handy for something!

kzwerg wrote: Well....I bought one, and received it within 10 days. Even though I specified the US (120V) plug, it powers up as an EU device, incompatible with anything. (when the unit is first plugged in, it displays EU for about 5 seconds) Scrolling through CH+, CH- indicates channels with an "S", and/or begins with CH21 as shown in the Euro chart in the manual. Dealing with the seller has been annoying at best. They want pictures....I send them pictures, then they tell me that they can't open the attachments. They want an explanation of the "failure" ....I explain that it powers up as an EU device "they" don't understand what I'm talking about. As previously mentioned, the manual only references European channel/frequency assignments, and under the specifications chart....only references 230 VAC. The instructions are vague, but it seems it can be toggled between EU/PAL and US/NTSC by holding down the ch+ and ch- simultaneously if I understand chinglish. However,I have not tried adjusting the settings as mine was in US mode when I got it.

Thanks.....I'll give it a try. I thought that it was only for changing the audio subcarrier and/or turning on off off the built-in test pattern.

Now this morning, it's up to a $10 refund (out of $21 and change from the original purchase price) Regarding the test pattern (it's just a couple of black and white stripes), and I'm doing this from memory....I don't have the manual available at the moment.....press CH+, and CH- simultaneously. Then press the CH+ to change the left-hand bit on the display to "1", press the CH- to change the right hand bit to "1", then hit "set". The procedure IS in the manual in broken English. (I mistakenly changed the left-hand bit to "2", putting the unit in the EU/PAL MODE, where it's stuck)

Why are you jerking around with him? If he represented that it would work in the U.S. and it doesn't, simply open either a NAD or SNAD claim with eBay. They'll check, then send you a pre-paid shipping label to return it to him. Once delivery has been made, you'll get a refund.

I have a Module that is designed for playing DVDs on vintage tvs. It blocks all content! So the image appears as it would of in the 50s and 60s. A friend of mind built it for me. I have many vintage sets and I use them most days. So I dont get content problems like white lines or buzzing. Pete

Well, my friend is extremely experience with electronics. Im not ! But im a tv collector , 50s and early 60s sets. So as you know dvds have content in them that does not display on vintage tv's very well. Most often even if your set is fully restored the content in dvd that is use for encryption etc etc , has effects on old technology because it was never meant to display it. So what use to happen was you would get white lines on the picture or a hum or a buzzing in the sound which of course was Mono originally. So my friend built and designed a module that blocks the content on dvds allowing it to be displayed on old sets with out the content . No lines , no buzzing correct grey tones . Content also effects the Grey tone too! So now the images are better toned for whites and blacks . It has video and audio in and video and audio out and a Gain control on it .
Pete

See this post: viewtopic.php?f=3&t=332446Anyone who wants to make one, I still have a couple of prototype (revision 0!) PCBs. Actually I wouln't mind someone checking one out on US EIA standard and US CH4 - should just need a tweak of the sound subcarrier coil. I could mail you an assembled PCB - free to the first person who puts their hand up!
