HI ALL:
This set can be found in Sams TSM-25. If someone could send me the Sams service data, that would be great and appreciated. Failing that, can someone tell me what the correct SPKR impedence is? The set otherwise works, connected to a 4 ohm "test" SPKR, but the original SPKR seems "dead". If I understand correctly, SPKR impedence is somewhat critical in solid state output circuits. TIA.

normally most solid stste radios and consoles use 8ohm speakers or they state on the back 8 to 16 ohm speakers.
if you drive an amp that is 8ohm with a 4 ohm speaker you will damage it, you can also damage the speaker.

On the contrary, speaker impedance in solid state equipment is not "critical".
If ohming out the original speaker shows that it's open, simply find a suitable replacement.
If this unit is stereo, the other channel can lend clues.

If it isnt critical why would a manufacturer put a warning on the back of the unit?
On the back of one of my units it says speakers 8-16ohm only, use of lower impedance speakers will damage the transistors.
No offense and you are a technician but why put it if it doesnt mean anything ?
Even my dad back in the day told me not to drive 4ohm speakers with an 8ohm amp.

If you knew the workings of electronics, specifically power output stages in general, you might understand the tolerances allowable of such things.
But I doubt you know this as I do, so it would be worthless to explain it.
