Cannot figure out for the life of me how to restring this dial cord. The tuning shaft(knob) fits in from the front!? How am I supposed to restring this thing without the knob in place??

Can't find schematic/diagram for this model.
Post pics later

Pictures. Hopefully this will shed some light on my problem. I can usually handle technical problems but suck at puzzles like this. (sigh)

A bit crude maybe, but this is an example of the current way I have this thing strung.

If your cord binds or doesn't move freely...
here's the real McCoy... :)

This is 0.41mm 1/64" Braided and highly recommended for Transistor Radios.
Not the super slick version.

Hey thanks Greg. I did end up using fishing line. I actually used the Spiderwire Stealth Braided line. I saw that recommended on this forum awhile back, Power Pro is good stuff too though.

Well I finally was able to restring the dial cord, but gosh was it hard. These models use a tuning shaft/knob that is all one piece so I actually had to restring the thing around the knob while holding the board at the same time. I actually used a crochet needle to loop the cord around the shaft  . Whew......

If it wasn't a challenge, it wouldn't be any fun to conquer, eh?

Glad you got it together though!
