Wow ! Don't think to check here very often and just saw Crown & Pcmcia's collections---both very impressive !

I'm another who has to see if they work initially, and then get them to perform as well as possible...

Medium Wave, that is a nice radio. I just sold a very similar one, that was FM and AM only. I still have a Columbia Triumph III, which was made by Nordmende and has MW, FM and SW. It plays well.

I have a very similar Nordmende Clipper. That was one of the most basket-cased radios I have ever had, someone had apparently tacked something in to use it as a guitar practice amp, near as I could tell. LOTs of things were wrecked about it, and I got it to work (including rewinding the interstage transformer, which is conveniently specified on the schematic). Whatever they had done, it was wrong, so I ended up putting it back to the original aside from a failed thermistor. It plays nicely but one of the transistors goes into thermal runaway, so I have to try to find an acceptable thermistor.

Yes, it was the Condor, but it was the same color as your Transita. I really like your black and chrome Condor, my Columbia is the same.

Hello,
I am from Saudi Arabia.

So what bands are prevalent there? Is it like North America, with 540-1710 kHz, AM, and 88-108 mHz FM? Are the SW bands used for local broadcasts?

Three radios followed me home from a local antique radio meet Sunday. (9/25/16)
First is a Panasonic RF-811 AM-FM portable. The radio works quite well but is missing the tip on the antenna and the screw that holds the back on.
Second is a Panasonic RF-800 AM-FM portable. This radio also works but is missing the tip and one or two sections of the antenna.
Third is a Channel Master 6437A six band portable. Again, the radio works including fine tuning, AFC and dial light. It is missing the plastic tubes that hold the batteries. On AC power there is a light hum. Volume and tone controls need cleaning and the AM band seems a little weak. But I still think I did OK.

Hello Medium wave,

Nice that you have the leather case with your radio. And like you say, it is heavy! It is much heavier than the RF-800 I also had posted that is more than twice its size.
You have some other very nice radios, keep the photos coming.

Al

I have a Condor as well, I suspect it found it's way here from Europe sometime in the distant past, the FM band is only from 88 to 100 Mhz

During the 60's many parts of Europe the FM band was only from 88.1 to 97.6 MHz except Germany.

Also have a Dansette Gem from the UK with MW and LW, similar in size to the Condor.

Both great sounding radios
