 Post subject: AR-88 S meter

Where do you hook up a S meter on the AR-88 i see where meter mounts.What the is int res for the meter,i see 2 wires bolted down to the lamp bracket.Are they for the S meter?Angelo 8)

It sounds to me like you have a AR-88-LF which does not have the S-meter. The AR-88D does and when you compare the two schematics, it will show you where to hookup the S-meter.
The wiring that you see terminating near the future S-meter location follows the wiring harness towards the IF tube from which cathode resistor it will originate when hooked up, but is not at present connected. It probably is soldered to one of the unused tube socket terminals.

Ahh ok i wondered why it was bolted down.Ihave the TM- 11-880 manual for the set.Coverage is 540kc to 32mhz.No meter tho,in fact no data plate either.I have a meter id want to use outboard of the radio.Thanks for the info.Angelo 8)
