I am trying to use a B&K415 Sweep Marker Generator I obtained from a swap meet.
Never used one of these, so I am a complete newbie.
I want to make sure I am using this properly, so I appreciate you guys who know about the B&K415 to give me some hints.
What I'm doing first is trying to get a response curve out of my FM radio.
I understand that the B&K415 can be used to align a TV and an FM radio.
Here is the settings I have for the B&K415:
The Output is set to 10.7Mhz.
All probes are ordinary straight connections.
Here is the Radio under test - an AM/FM Silvertone Model 4200:
Not much remarkable here. The FM alignment instructions is to use a "dummy antenna" of .05uf capacitor and I have it connected to the B&K's direct probe input.
Here is the scope output with the FM discriminator capacitor connected:
I set the Scope to Ext TV- Triggering input and I connected the B&K415 Horizontal output to the TRIG INPUT on the scope. The Channel 1 Vertical input has the B&K415 Vertical output.
Again this is the first time I have used a B&K415 and wonder if this indeed is the expected response curve. The alignment instructions for this FM radio states to adjust the IF coils for "S" curve symmetry. I'm not going to adjust anything until I am sure I am looking at the proper signal - my first attempt to do an FM alignment and I don't want to screw the goose:-)
Note my Time Base is set at 1ms - is this as expected for this setup?
I don't see the vertical Marker hashes - is this as expected?
Appreciate any hints and suggestions.
