Ok guy's,
I have pulled the v16 out again to look at it and would like to fix issues with distortion.
Gets worse as you increase volume.
Was re-capped and bad tubes replaced.
Replaced an output transformer(used).
All the usual stuff.
Has never had good audio.
16 tubes and 2 speakers should sound way better than this one does.
I know Ozarka was not a great performer anyway, but I am sure that it was meant to sound better than this.
Total and complete distortion which gets much worse when volume is increased.
Different animal here which I know nothing about.
Can't afford to ship it across the country anymore.
Fix it or peddle it?

Not a piece of crap but a lot of parallel tubes. There are at least 4 tubes you could pull without making much difference.

Distortion is usually caused by biasing of output tubes. Try measuring grid #1 (pin #3) in relation to filament (pin #1) on each 45 tube. Pin #3 must be around 40 volts negative.

Hi Norm,
Let me see if I understand what you are suggesting.
Check pin 1 in relation to pin 3?
Or should I check pin 1 to chassis ground and pin 3 to chassis ground?

Measure between pins 1 and 3 not to chassis. Tubes only see voltage at pins. Measuring to chassis from each pin would work but takes two measurements.

Ok, Understood.
Thanks for your help Norm.
Will see if I can get up the ambition to tear it out again.
