The only example I can find is on Radio Museum and somehow that looks like maybe it was refinished.
What say you?

This radio is not refinished. I have it and if you need more pictures, please let me know.

Thanks very much Leonid. I can then go by these colors on RadioMuseum pictures.

Good luck with restoration.
These Stewart Warners are really nice, aren't they?

It is time to pick out a speaker fabric but with my eyesight it is difficult to match it up with what I can find on line. Are there some common styles that Stewart Warner used for this line of radios?
Here is the best picture of the cloth that I can find.

Out of seven Stewart Warner radios from 1933 model year I have only Troubador had generic golden cloth with some pattern, but this might might have been a replacement.
All the rest have this black with some gold cloth similar to the one in your picture. Difficult indeed to find a similar one...

Bringing this old thread back up because in restoring one myself, Ed have you found the grill cloth you were looking for? Do you still have this radio or did you pass it on? Would love to see some different pictures of it from all angles and the chassis. Didn't I restore a few cabinets for you Ed? These 1271,s just don't see them out there much and thinking because there aren't many around, so this one of mine will be one I will take care of for as long as I can hold on to it.

Hi Fred, you know me from the speaker I had for your Majestic 1250. I still haven't found a suitable grill cloth for my Stewart Warner 1271 so I was hoping you would do the heavy lifting and come up with some and let me know where you got yours.

Will do, I have to start looking for some cloth because the cabinet and chassis for my 1271 is almost done. Ed I had to replace all the veneer on mine except for the round piece that's in front. Mine will be a custom version of the 1271 bond .

Hello ED, the closest I could find with some pattern and color and thick weave is this zenith pattern I had at my shop , the color is there with the heavy thick weave, look somewhat similar in pattern as the picture of yours. Here's mine with new cloth and the old original cloth I took out

This fabric Ed is as close as I could find as I had some at the shop, its old fabric from the suppler that went out of business few years back. Looks like zenith pattern as yours does but the color is there and the thick weave. Not bad if you as me, don't think you will find a exact match. I think the original pattern for this 1271 and others had a diamond pattern with the gold and some copper and black. Heres mine with the new cloth and a picture of the cloth that came out (original cloth).

File comment: If you look close you can barely see the diamond pattern in this photo

Very well done Fred, somehow I'm not surprised though. Now I am far behind so I need to bring mine up to the standard you have set and that is going to be tough.
