This is my first time restoring one of these . I have a new dial cover to install . The old one was held in place with small staples but I am not comfortable with that . I was thinking of using a small bead of clear silicone to hold it in place Before I do that I want to ask the experts in here . Guys what would you use?

The silicone sounds like a good idea, plus it is reversible if need be. You could just run the edge of an Exacto blade underneath and cut it off. In antique radio restoration, there are often "many roads to Rome".
