I own a FARNELL PSG520 . It is a synthesized Signal Generator covering 10-520 MHz.
First, has anyone owned or heard of this Make and model before?

I am looking for Technical manual for this Generator. I have 1 working unit and I have 1 that is not working correct.
I will enclose a photo of the Generator.

Thanks,Jim.

Farnell test equipment is much more popular in Europe than it is in the USA, especially England where its made. I found this recent link on a UK vintage radio forum whith some people who might be able to send you service information on that model:

I got a Farnell 257 modulation meter at a hamfest for like, 15$. Works OK. Still had a USAF hang tag on it. Was amazed that the USAF used that brand, but I have seen Canadian test eqt. in their inventory also. So I was unable to get any data on it for the longest time, or even find mention. Finally I got ahold of someone at the company that was willing to help and got a free copy of the manual. I dont know if they still market anything under their own name. They have sig gens listed from the known makers. Hopefully you do not have a complete orphan. Someone else in the world, presumably outside the US, must have one, and a manual for theirs. I might add that I looked inside and the chips date from the 90s and it seems pretty well made, not some Chinese econo look.

Most purchasing agents had to spread out their orders away from HP and Tek, just to not look like they were biased. So it was not unusual for some forlorn repair depot in East Sludgeville to get a shipment of off-brand test equipment, which had the same knobs as a Tek 545, but was basically barely-working garbage. Or signal generators made by some weird French firm, with pretty knobs and nice color-coordinated powder blue front panels, but horribly leaky of all kinds of spurious RF. Mysteriously, these pieces of equipment would have a lot of accidents, like dropping off loading docks or being hit with a few megawatts of radar RF, bad luck, eh, and being total write-offs, wouldn't you know it.

Hello

I wonder if anyone has managed to get their hands on the manuals or a circuit diagram of the PSG520?

I would be grateful for any links or PDFs anyone could supply me.

Regards

Have you tried contacting Farnell and talking nicely to them? Actually, I did it with email, not a phone, but the person there took pity on me and dug out the data for me. The pdf manual calls mine a Wayne Kerr Electronics model, so presumably it was rebadged by Farnell and perhaps that is the case with the sig. generator?
