Hello guys,

I have a OS-8/U oscilloscope I'm trying to restore. After examining the inside I've come to find that the tubes it uses are different than those in the OS-8C/U which seems to be the only oscilloscope I can find the circuit diagram/manual for. I'm wondering if anyone has a picture of the circuit diagram for this particular model. I found a thread a while ago where someone had a similar question, but they seemed interested in the entire manual; I really only care about the diagram.

Thanks,
Luke

W2WIQ,

Thanks for the reply. The manual that says os8 is actually another copy of the one for the os-8c/u. I will use the search and report back if I find anything.

*Edit* I searched the forum to no avail. I found a few threads that mentioned the later schematics might be similar enough, but they don't seem similar at all. The os-8/u has just seven tubes excluding the CRT, and after tracing some of the wires I've concluded that the x and y amplifiers are single-ended (the later models all seemed to use push-pull arrangements). Also, one of the tubes is a 12AU7, which seems like a poor choice to use unless you wanted to get high gain at a low frequency (I suspect it might not be the original tube). The only other dual-triodes in the machine are a 12AT7 and a 6J6, the rest are pentodes, so I'm thinking it might lack a sync amp or an attenuator section.

Luke

I have an OS-8/U manual. The tubes shown on the schematic are -
12AX7
12AT7
6AK6
6AK6
6AG5
6J6
6X7

If you PM your email address, I will try to get the schematic scanned this weekend and sent it to you.

For anyone that is interested, I have created an abbreviated version of the OS-8/U manual which should be useful to anyone trying to work on one of these scopes.

It can be downloaded here - http://www.filedropper.com/os-8umanualabbreviated

Bob, Thank you very much for taking the time to scan and post this, and making it available to everyone.

Hello

I just came across an OS-8 and could use some troubleshooting help.

It powered up OK, but it blows both line fuses. Might this be the due to bad electrolytic capacitors?
