Has anyone made a detector probe for the SG-165? I've had the unit for 30 years, seldom used it, now can't find the probe. I found a suitable diode for the probe, an NTE109 is supposed to be equivalent to the orig. 1N774. Ill order the rest of the parts from Mouser today, I'm ordering resistors and caps to build a 5 tube regen radio anyway. Any construction tips?

Thanks!

Well, turned out I had parts on hand....used a IN34A diode........
Here's what I came up with so far:

Not yet, I got side-tracked on another project. I'll get back to it in a couple weeks, going on a trip next Tuesday, I'll try it when I get back.

Hello TMadden, if you're still out there. Or anyone else....

I am building probes too. For the matching pad, is that really a 20uF cap there? Doesn't indicate electrolytic polarity and there's no bias in the probe circuit anyway.

FYI, I built the probe with a 2 μF cap instead of a 20. Works great.
