I was looking at modern capacitor checkers and came upon this quote in the Amazon "questions & answers".

"......since the meter injects a signal to charge up the capacitor it makes a great Signal Injector also right nice for Audio circuitry trouble shooting."

Does this sound right? I have a similar device and it would be a convenient troubleshooting feature.

The DER5000 can inject 1k 100k 120hz

But you have no adjustment on the vol.
An MP# would be a simple injector or an old android or apple phone.

Most capacitor testers and meters use some sort of AC test signal, so in theory that could be injected into the input of an audio amplifier to see if it is working. But I would be reluctant to do that on any kind of tube gear. Most modern digital C-meters are pretty sensitive to voltage, and while they typically give you a pair of back to back diodes to discharge capacitors in case you forget to do it, they might not be enough to protect the meter from accidental connection across a B+ point in a tube circuit.

I STRONGLY recommend using any piece of test equipment ONLY for its intended purpose.

You don't know what it will do in any other configuration...

and neither does anybody else.

Sounds like a quote from an audiophool who is trying to look smart.

Try it and see. if it works for you, fine. If it doesn't, you know it doesn't. Either way, widespread destruction is unlikely.
