When I use the aux ports the KLH sounds amazing but something is weird about the phono part.... I tried about 4-5 different needles in the cart..... Maybe the cart is bad?

Tracking force around 4-5 grams?
Changer been overhauled?
Electronics been upgraded?

Cartridges rarely "go bad".
When they do, they don't output sound at all.

Sound doesnt really change no matter what it is tracking at... CHanger is working great..... I had electronic work already done on it.... But I sorta wonder if he skipped over the preamp phono and did everything else sense he was only testing things through the aux ports on it

A lot of aftermarket styli for the Pickering cartridge sound worse than hammered dog-crap.

That was a favorite expression of a former employer/audio designer.

Skipping on bass notes is a sign of tracking weight too light for that model stylus, or a stylus
where the suspension has hardened. Have you measured the weight?
Original style stylus for that KLH required 4 to 5 grams. There are many other variations of the
stylus that will work at lower forces.

I've got a customer bringing in her KLH model 11 for some service - and of course when she gets it back, it'll perform nicely.

I currently own 2 KLH Model Elevens. The most recent was purchased a few weeks ago at a local flea market at a price I couldn't refuse. Both sound excellent through the phono and aux. inputs. I use a Stanton N400 stylus on the later 66', white platter mat model eleven and a Pickering stylus in very good condition, on the earlier 65' version with the larger headshell and Garrard black rubber mat.

The 66' model, probably due to the higher output N400 stylus and better shape caps. Seems to have more punch and the tone adjustments alter the tone quality more dramatically than the 65' model. I can only assume that these factors are what's causing the difference in sound and output between the two. Neither have been recapped since I've owned them, but still sound decent to my ears. That said.....I'm sure a recapping would elevate the sound on both units. It could be possible your phono input wasn't recapped when you had it serviced. Might try asking the tech who worked on it, just to be sure, and take it from there.

My klh 11 was a mess when I got it.... When I first turned it on the volume kept going up and down on its own. Suddenly it settled on a volume ( I am sure after the capictors blew out ) one channel was lower then the other. When I turned it up past a certain point it would make a loud annoying sound and it sounded like the speaker would explode if i let it make that sound...
