Just picked this up at an estate sale. Looking forward to trying to get it working properly again:

You will have great time restoring this J-2. Just be warned... RCA 45 players can be addictive.... but so much fun!

Looks like you got a complete player for a good price! They are a good one to start with. No amp to rebuild or speaker to repair. They are a fun and easy fix!

These are cute little record changers, but the price of the parts to overhaul them adds up fast.

Idler wheel $28
Cycling cam $28
3 rubber motor mounts $3
3 rubber chassis mounting cones $3.75

We're up to $63, and have not bought a cartridge yet.

I don't mind spending the money - I'm not planning on making any money out of this. The bigger challenge for me is that I am not that great at mechanical stuff. I should probably let my wife do it - she has the touch!

Service info for the RP-190 record changer is available in the 1951 Beitman's book starting on page 111. It's available for free download here:
http://www.americanradiohistory.com/Beitman-Manual.htm

Make sure you do the adjustments in the order shown in the service info.

I reccomend getting the idler wheel and cycling cam resurfaced at https://www.thevoiceofmusic.com . He also has the rubber motor mounts, the chassis mounting cones, and an assortment of cartridges.
