Played the RCA 45-EY-2 a couple hours today going through old records. It got really hot. The motor board almost too hot to touch. I realize the tubes put off heat but, is that normal temp for these units? thanks

I've noticed on repairing some of those players, the motor gets pretty hot when used for a couple hours. Outside chance--There were 90 volt motors used in some units as part of the heater string...maybe a 115V motor was swapped out to a 90 volt one? Also possible the motor bearing isn't free spinning and is helping with the heat. Not the best ventilated case design either...Make sure your player has some clearance underneath for air to ventilate.
