I picked up a GE F62 recently that had the main dial string essentialy gone. Not enough to see how it is properly restrung. I looked in the 1947 Sam's dial string guide but it is not there. Maybe this radio came out after that guide.
So, anyone here have a stringing guide or, perhaps, can send a photo or even rough diagram?
Recall this is the one that has other 'dial' strings for the volume and tone controls that move little sliders on the dial. Those are OK so do not need those.

The GE is in Rider's 8 / Beitman's 1. GE usually has pretty good service info from that era, don't know off the top of my head if this model does though.

No dial cord info on these models. I have the complete Sam's Dial Cord books and nothing there. Doesn't the Philco have a drum that rotates vertically? They usually have gears/screws or metal cables to rotate them. I looked at all Philco references (Rider's 3, 4 & 5) and there was nothing. There is no F-62 GE but there is an FB-62 and Rider's 8 has nothing nor does Beitman's. Find someone with the old Philco manuals. I only have 1941 & 1942 which are too new to be of help. They may be able to find some info for you. Only someone with a GE would probably be able to help you on it.

Well, I used the old trial and error method and figured out the GE F62 today. It was a little trick, especially putting the needle pointer on. But I know how it is done now. Hopefully this post will serve as a pointer if someone else needs help with this GE. They can contact me for a drawing.

Still need help with that Philco 89.. Will tackle that when I button up the GE sometime this week.

I got the GE all figured out so turned to the Philco 89. I still did not find anything like a dial stringing dialgram. But I did see a photo of the chassis on the Philo Forum website and could enlarge the photo enough to figure oit out. A few tries and I have it now. Just need to go get some violin rosin now to prevent slipping of the dial string.

For someone doing a search in the future this dial string drawing should also be correct for a (Ge) General Electric F-63 from 1937 as well as the F-62.
