Well, my Phillips 27S310 CRT set has started to fold over at the top, and is at around 1 1/4". If I continue to run it, can I make it fail faster? Is it something I can fix? It has been in the shop twice, and is in good shape, other than this problem.
It will be 20 years old in September, so, if it is a hard to find i.c. or other part, I may just look for a newer CRT set. :(

Would appreciate any advice , thanks David.

Anything could fail faster. It may be bad electrolytics in either the lv poser supply, and, or, vertical circuit.

Thanks Bill. I'm going to pull the back and look for the usual suspects, may have to get a schematic, too.

The B+ for the vertical circuit may come from the flyback transformer (scan derived), so the filter caps may be next to the flyback. Also, they used a rectifier in a pump up circuit that can get leaky; it will be next to the vertical output IC.

Check your capacitors in the vertical output circuit / yoke circuit
I usually just jump them out one at a time to find out which one it is.
Make sure to discharge cap each time you go to jump out another.
