I picked up this GE consule the other day.
I was wondering what is safe to clean the water stains out of the fabric on the front?
Is there a certain method in doing this?

Thanks ahead for any suggestions.

I've been wondering what on earth is on the front of that thing. :P I intially thought they were wooden slats but I guess they're rods in front of fabric?

Actually that is all fabric. It is just stripe pattern.
It does look like wood slabs though....LOL

I would start with a clean white towel, dampened, with water only and wipe it on the area, following the strips. That should help safely lift the dirt/stain away. If it is a no-go, dish-washing soap would be the next step, I think. It is fairly mild.

glad I'm not the only one looking to do something with speaker cloth! I acquired a 1968 mid-century modern Zenith console and it smells very bad (that yucky old wood smell - never sure what it's from , but disgusting and stinks up entire room!) Mine has wood louvre slats in front of the speakers; after airing the cabinet for days, I opened those slats and got a big whiff of bad, so the cloth is retaining the odor...

Your cabinet is amazing-looking! I hope you get the water stains out! Good luck!

How does it sound?
