I bought an Emerson 724B quite a while ago and my wife grabbed it to decorate!
Well she is redoing her kitchen and now the 724B is mine again.
I popped it open to recap it and found it has already been recapped!. Powered it up and no reception.
Looked around and found some very messy work around the IF transformers. Tracing the connections to the new electrolytics I found a big error. They had connected the 95 volt electrolytic to the AVC line!
I reconnected it back where it belonged and powered up again. Finger on the volume control gets hum but still no reception. AVC line reads 0 Volts at turn on and slowly goes positive as the unit warms up. I think this is wrong?
Looking at the schematic (Beitman's 1953 page 37) it looks like the wiring error had put 95 volts on the control grid of the 12BA6 IF amp. Anyway can anyone give me advice on what to try now?
I.F. coils all read about 19 or 20 Ohms. Some resistors have changed up a bit in value but not radicaly so. Also what type of bulb is the pilot light supposed to be. It works but looks a little dim.
