Thanks for letting us know. I really admired Mr. Lindsay as a fine actor. He was at home in dramatic roles as well as comedies. Eighty three is a "good run", though, and we have a large body of work by which to remember him. Kevin

Andy Griffith is still around. Jim Nabors is still alive.

Hey All,
Goober was funny, kind of a Shemp to Jim Nabors' Curly.
FWIW, Unlike many folks,I liked both Shemp AND Curly, "apples and oranges".
As a side note I always loved those big honkin' Mayberry Moto radios and low band whips on the cars, even as a VERY young kid.
Also, didn't Aunt Bea remind you a bit of Eleanor Roosevelt ?

I didn't like Goober as much early on, but grew to accept his role. One of my favorite episodes with Aunt Bea was when she got into some hooch and sat at the piano just singing her head off... RW

That whole original gang from Andy Griffith was classic! The names of screen names of those folks was hilarious: Gomer, Goober, Skinny Griffin, Barney, Otis, Briscoe, Opie, etc.

Here's a list of the fates of the (secondary at least) original cast members... http://www.deadoraliveinfo.com/dead.nsf/pages-nf/mainFor some reason that list didn't include the guy who played Floyd the Barber (Howard McNear who passed away back in 1969)

Another great one gone. So sad. I gotta say that I almost lost a mouth full of my morning coffee when I read a statement about Lindsey on the first link provided................. "He did some standup comedy — ending the show by tap and break dancing. One of his jokes: "A football coach, holding a football, asks his quarterback, 'Son, can you pass this?' The player says, 'Coach, I don't even think I can swallow it.'" I can picture him saying it too.
