I am looking for a solid state replacement for a mechanical vibrator that is from my 1935 Zenith farm radio, Model 4V31. The radio operates from a 6 Volt DC supply and uses about 2.8 amps.<P>The part number on the vibrator is: 190-6V and has 6 prongs.<P>Does anyone know where one can be purchased?<BR>------------------<BR>

Proper subs would be Mallory 256 or 1808/4546, or Radiart 5411.<P>These are synchronous vibrators, so there is no rectifier tube in the radio. A synchronous vibrator has two sets of contacts. Thanks for the information. But, what stores carry these parts you specified?<P>Yes, on the circuit diagram I have, dated 6-22-35, it shows the part number as 190-5. What the 5 stands for I do not know. <P>However, I pulled the vibrator out and on the vibrator itself the number 190-6V was on it.<P>------------------<BR>

Hi <P> You might have to buy a standard solid state vibrator then add 2 rectifier diodes. <P> Even if you were to find a NOS mechanical replacement it may not operate. Points oxidize over time even without use.<P> Have you tried cleaning points on the original vibrator? <P>------------------<BR>Norm

The original vibrator still works, but I have read the solid state vibrators reduce the required current.<P>You say buy a solid state and add two rectifier diodes. Who makes them, what are the part numbers and where do you buy them at?<P>Thanks.<P>------------------<BR>
