Worked on the cabinet a little more, I think I got the color the way it should look and have a few coats of lacquer on the cabinet, let it cure a coupe of days and steel wool with 0000 and then a few more coats of lacquer.

Larry:
Is it just my eyes or does the bottom (base) look a lot different than a regular 12S267...or is that normal?
Thanks,
Terry

The shape is correct the color is too brown, I used medium brown toning lacquer on the base and corners. First I'm going to use steel wool to remove some of the toner and add some some darker aniline dye to see how it looks. If I'm not happy with that I'll go with a darker toning lacquer.

Thanks for all the comments, getting near the end of this project. I installed the grill cloth I got from Richmond Designs yesterday. Waiting on a voice coil for the speaker. Chassis recapped, belts replaced, tuning motor checked, all tubes checked, rf choke replaced, field coil rewound and the dials replaced from a donor chassis I had. The acoustical adapter was repaired using orthopedic cast tape and painted with hammered gold paint. The next post from me will be when it is playing and assembled.

Larry- the color is all SPOT on... Seems I've finally crossed a resto of this cabinet that I find perfect to my taste colorwise. I'm going to re-read the thread now incase I missed it but can you please confirm any and all products that involved color for the main body as well as trims for my record, from stains, dyes, to toners, etc. Congrats, this is stupendous.

LarryAD wrote: Finally received the toning lacquer I ordered and today the weather warmed up enough for me to open the shop door and finish the cabinet. I prefer spraying with natural light. I also cleaned up the bezel and sprayed and installed it. Tomorrow's plan is the install the speaker grill cloth. The bottom edge of the speaker board needed a little glue, waiting on it to dry. I replaced the right top corner of the Australian walnut veneer, a portion was missing and it was cracked badly, the rest of the Australian walnut was good. The cabinet shine will back off a little after all of the solvents leave the lacquer.
The chassis is ready to apply power. I have rewound the speaker field, received a new cone and am waiting on a voice coil delivery. Larry: The cabinet looks terrific! BR, Terry
