Dave; Any chance he'd be interested in a Philco 41-250? It's a year later, but otherwise might appeal to him. Attachment:

These are a fairly large set (a bit over 19" wide), but it's a popular model. The Tenite panel is the original and not perfect, but too good to replace with a modern reproduction. The original knobs and buttons are all in good shape. The cabinet has the original finish and looks pretty good, too. As is fairly typical, the on/off switch failed and someone in the past added a switched pot so the bass control now turns the radio on and off. It's been recapped and I replaced several tubes. One final tube is due today. Brian

Good looking set Brian. I will send him the picture. However I think it may be larger than he is looking for. I will check with him.
Thank you!

Dave;
I just received the tube. It was an NOS tube and the set is now working. These have three bands and there are indicators using pilot lamps to show which band is selected. I'll have to replace the bulb for broadcast, but the other two are working properly. It picks up signals on all bands, but would certainly benefit from an external antenna for the two shortwave bands.
These sets are plenty loud. I wouldn't call them high fidelity, but this was before the age of FM, so what can you expect?
Anyway, I'll be happy to supply additional photos if there's an interest. The set certainly looks very original and is very clean. This clearly wasn't one that someone stashed in their barn or garage. It was well taken care of and is in good shape for being 77 years old.
Brian

Dave;
Well, I guess I'd like $150 plus shipping. I'd need an address to figure out what UPS would charge, but I'd pack it myself so he wouldn't be paying extra to have the UPS Store do it.

Dave; Here's a link to higher resolution images: https://1drv.ms/FS!Ao70V60RHlajnLk2PkxhCH5DNCWdGwI replaced the burnt out bulb. The band selector changes which bulbs are lit so you can tell if it's set to use the push buttons or the tuner on the "broadcast", "police", or "overseas" bands. Brian

Question. 1940 as in models starting with 40? They produced models in June 1940 that are model 41's. They made June 1939 models marked 40. I have a few if he wants any produced in 1940 but I think this is the closest to the one he wanted. I have not tested it since the cord is bad. $100.00

It will be a better sounding and more useful radio than the Philco!
Thanks,
Brian
