Take 150 2T fine sand paper. Better then stripper tried that. The after most is off. Wet sand them with fine 220. Take some doing sanding in the wet but hey it works.

I'm working on a RCA model 5Q56 the knobs on side where painted factory white. After years of sitting looked smoke age cream yuck. The front knobs were red but after years looking dirty maroon red.

Got 3 knobs done this way and 4 in progress. So it does work. even on the sides of big knobs the paint is stuck in the groves.

One has to be bitten to get the bug. Paula

Hi Paula. Good suggestion. How's 'bout some pictures? Before and after? We'd all like to see your work on this.

David- I am not going to comment on whether oven cleaner will work or not. But the mere mention of oven cleaner sends shivvers up and down my spine. Most of it contains lye and it is really nasty for some people to get on their skin. My mother when she lived here used some EZ-Off in the oven and could not avoid getting a bit of it on her arms, even though she had rubber gloves on. It really made her arms swell up and it required medical attention and the doctor prescribed some medication to rub on her arms to soothe the pain and itching. And lord knows what would happen if someone got it in their eyes!

I am not one of those folks who subscribe to the idea that everything we use causes cancer, but I have seen what oven cleaners can do to some people.
