This is the biggest problem I have where I live. Many of the highly regarded high performance radios are useless when you live on a hill but under a maze of high powered FM and TV stations. Hardly any of the solid state radios I have work as they should without being highly modified to cope with this. The interference usually manifests itself as a loud hiss over an entire band or several bands. For example, my RF-2200 is nearly useless on the shortwave bands but is fine for AM and FM reception. (Yes, FM reception is fine under these conditions but shortwave isn't. Go figure.)
My Superadio II and Zenith R7000-2 are not affected. Another radio that works well here is my Grundig Satellit 500 but it's DX performance leaves a bit to be desired using it's built-in antennas.
