I am working on a Philco 38-12.
There is a 1 meg resistor across the volume pot. Volume pot is 500K.
The resistor does not look original, nor is it featured in the schematic. Any idea what it might be doing there?
------------------
-Mike

Hi Mike
It's not necessary for the circuit. Maybe someone replaced the volume control with a higher resistance one?
Be sure coupling cap .01 mfd (#15) from control to 1st audio stage has been replaced. A resistor like this would help load the AVC line and make up for a leaky coupling cap?
------------------
Norm

The volume control appears to be original. It is the correct 500K anyway.
All the paper caps are original, so perhaps the new resistor was to compensate for a leaky cap.
------------------
-Mike
