Well I got my $58. E-bay Fluke last night. It was advertised as having a bad time-base oscillator.
Cleaned it all up and tested it. I could get to work on high freqs only - if I was careful.
Found that the oscillator was putting out burst instead of CW. Found a huge amount of hum on the 18v. osc. supply (and other supplies).
Temped - in a couple of caps and the thing came to life. It's not touchy at all.
Easy chassis to work on.
Very happy with this. I have another coming (125 Mhz - no C option) and will test it and offer it here for my cost. If no one wants it, I will put it on E-bay.
Thanks for the recommendations and the usual good help.
Erik - now you da man!

Denis,
Excellent news, glad it's working. It's always nice to hear success stories, especially since most of the eBay stories don't have a happy ending.
Strangely, and it's probably unrelated, the only problems I've ever had with Fluke gear, except for the back panel switches, have been in power supplies.
